A Little Info About Lori and Debi

Hello, I’m Lori!

I’m a proud Washingtonian, born and raised in the lovely city of Renton. I’m happily married to my wonderful husband, Louie, and we’re blessed with two fantastic children, ten grandchildren, and one adorable great-grandchild.

My quilting adventure began when I was a young woman. I came across a stunning quilt that I couldn’t afford, so I decided to try making one myself. Little did I know, there was a bit more to it than just ‘making it’! Now, after 42 joyful years of quilting, I feel like I’ve truly found my passion.

Quilting runs in my family; my Great Grandma Stroud was an avid quilter, although I sadly never got to meet her. It brings me immense joy to continue this beautiful tradition and to teach my grandchildren, family, and friends the art of quilting.

Throughout my journey, I’ve met so many wonderful people in the quilting community. The generosity and kindness of fellow quilters never ceases to amaze me! I adore every step of the quilting process—from selecting fabrics and patterns to piecing, quilting, and finally, binding. But the best part? Giving away my creations!

I’ve come a long way from quilting at the kitchen table to now enjoying my own sewing studio. Honestly, though, I believe you can never have enough space for all your quilting supplies! I’ve even managed to stash fabric in most of the closets around the house. Thankfully, I have a supportive husband who encourages my passion every step of the way!

Hi there, I’m Debi!

I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Renton, Washington. I’m happily married and have two wonderful children and a lovely granddaughter. Sewing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandma taught me how to use my dolls’ clothes to create patterns and make more outfits.

I have fond memories of visiting my great grandma’s house, where the living room was always filled with love and laughter as my great grandma, grandma, great aunts, aunts, and my mom gathered around a quilting frame. The best part of those visits was definitely lunchtime—so much delicious food! I wish I had started quilting back then and learned from them, but unfortunately, I didn’t begin my quilting journey until most of them were gone. I often think about how much I could have learned from their wisdom. I promised one of my great aunts that someday I would hand quilt something, and I’ve decided that my first project will be a small cathedral window quilt in the near future.

My mom was very involved with the Children’s Orthopedic Guild, where she made Barbie doll clothes to donate for sale. I believe my love for sewing, crafting, and giving back comes from a long line of doers and givers in my family.

After my mother-in-law passed away, I took home a treasure trove of quilt tops and supplies she had left behind. One day, while driving home from work, my husband and I stopped at a quilt shop to pick up some fabric for a bag I wanted to make. While I was browsing, my husband struck up a conversation with the shop owner, asking how to get me involved in quilting to help clear out the stash! Little did he know what he was starting! What began as three small totes has since spread to three rooms in our house and part of our garage!

I also have a passion for collecting vintage sewing machines, and I adore gifting quilts to my family, who are so appreciative and love receiving them.
